What is a Shopify Page?

what is a shopify page

A website is a sum of all its pages. Even if a website is single-paged, it would still have a homepage. A Shopify page is like any other page of a website.

It is just that a Shopify page is created on the e-commerce platform Shopify. You must have seen online store pages like About us, Contact us, Terms of Service, Shipping Policy, and more.

All are examples of pages that you can add to Shopify. You are provided a page template for easy editing for many of these.

If you sell things on a Shopify store, you must have a Shopify page to display your products or services. Ideally, your product pages are dedicated to offering a single product or service.

This is the page where a customer sees the product details like images, descriptions, and titles. This is also where you have an “Add to Cart” button to make a purchase.

In addition to these crucial pages describing your business, you can add a blog page on Shopify.

Fast Fact: If you hide the tagline “Powered by Shopify,” most people would not even know that your website is made on Shopify.

You will mainly have to write the “Title” of your page and the “Content” that you want that page to display.

Let’s take an example of a simple Shopify page. Every e-commerce business should have an “About us” page. If you want to add an “About us” page to your Shopify store, you will write “About us” in the Title field.

The “Content” will include information about your company. You can add details about your business, including your brand story.

Make sure to use the formatting options in the “Content” section. You have the following formatting options.

  • H1, H2, etc. tags

  • Bold, italic, and underline

  • Bullets, numbering, and indent

  • Alignment and color

  • Insert link

  • Insert table

  • Insert images and videos

Most of these options are relevant to the article, product descriptions, and blogs.

6. Set Your Page’s Visibility and Theme Template

The next step is to set the visibility and page template.

If your page is not final and you want to add more details in the future, you can set your page’s visibility as “Hidden.”

You can also set the visibility date of your page. Your page will automatically be live on the set date.

Additionally, if your page is a “Contact us” or FAQ page, tag it accordingly. Set it as a “Default page” if it’s something else.

7. Optimize Your Page for SEO

Finally, you will need to set the meta description of your page at the bottom.

You need to click the “Edit website SEO” option to attract organic traffic to your page from search engines.

It will expand to look like this:

Here, you will have to write the Page title (SEO title) and its description (Meta description). This meta description will be visible to the traffic on search engines. Ideally, it tells the audience what this page is all about.

Note: Shopify allows the meta description of up to 320 characters. The recommended characters for an ideal SEO meta description is about 155 characters, but it is not mandatory.

If you leave the “Edit Website SEO” empty, Shopify will automatically add the starting few words in this section from your content.

You can also edit the URL and handle. For example, if you want to shorten the URL, you can change it from “about-us” to “about.”

8. Save the Page
